Mercedes-Benz vans are pitch perfect for Findley Roofing

High-flying Findley Roofing & Building is poised to set the seal on the transformation of its van fleet to Mercedes-Benz.

The company is based in Washington, Tyne and Wear, and is already running 26 reliable, fuel-efficient vehicles bearing the three-pointed star, all of which were supplied within the last year by Bell Truck and Van.

The manufacturer’s representative in the North-East is currently processing orders for a further 10 vans, which are scheduled for delivery before the end of 2017. Every one of Findley Roofing & Building’s vehicles will then be a Mercedes-Benz.

Managing Director Grant Findley has taken advantage of the manufacturer’s impressive range of support services. His vans are the subject of flexible, competitively priced Agility funding agreements from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, and maintained by Bell Truck and Van under cost-effective Service Care plans.

The latest additions to his company’s fleet are 10 3.5-tonne Sprinter 314 CDI chassis cabs with dropside bodies incorporating locking toolboxes, which were built to Findley’s specification by Tyneside Coachworks, of Gateshead.

They are now working alongside six Sprinter 314 CDI panel vans. As Premium Edition models, these came with a package of extras including integrated Becker® MAP PILOT satellite navigation and Audio 15 colour screen infotainment systems, TEMPMATIC air-conditioning, Comfort driver’s seats with arm-rests, outside temperature indicators, chrome effect grilles, and special wheel trims and badging.

Findley Roofing & Building also runs 10 smaller Citan 109 CDI models – six are Long panel vans while the remaining four are Extra-long crew vans, each with a second row of seats allowing it to carry a driver and up to four passengers.

Still to come are 10 mid-sized Vito vans, at which point the manufacturer’s entire model range will be represented in the operator’s fleet.

Grant Findley recalled: “We had been running vans by another manufacturer but they just weren’t reliable enough. I’d heard some very positive reports about Mercedes-Benz vehicles, so contacted Bell Truck & Van to see what they could offer.

“I was immediately impressed by the Dealer’s professional approach. Sales specialist Mick Barnes took the time to understand our requirements in detail, rather than just trying to sell us something ‘off the shelf’. The Agility finance package is also keenly priced, and allows us to keep our options open until the end of the term.”

He continued: “Our Mercedes-Benz vehicles are certainly living up to my high expectations. They are built to an extremely high standard and performing brilliantly. Drivers tell me the comfort, ride quality and handling are excellent, even when fully loaded.

“The vans look fantastic, too, especially the Premium Edition Sprinters with their chrome grille trims. We pride ourselves on offering the highest quality of workmanship and service levels to our customers, and the Mercedes-Benz brand image can only help to reinforce our own.”

Findley Roofing undertakes flat and pitched roof work, ranging from small repairs to full replacements in a wide range of materials, as well as other construction projects, across the North-East and beyond.

The company was founded 30 years ago. Mr Findley trained as a barrister before joining the family business, taking over from his father in 2008. It has since grown rapidly, reaching an annual turnover of £10 million, and now employs 90 staff. Plans are progressing to open two depots next year, in Manchester and Essex. Findley Roofing is also proud of its claim to be the only roofing company in Britain to hold its own consumer credit licence, allowing it to offer 0% APR finance deals to customers.
